Pattern: Northman Mittens by David Schulz.
Yarn: The blue and green are Cascade 220, the black is Plymouth Galway Tweed (I used it on my Truly Tasha Shawl – and when I look to find a link I see that I never posted about that shawl. Horrible!).
Needles: US 3, which produce a very sturdy fabric with worsted yarn.
I don’t know if you’ve got the hint, but I’ve been knitting a lot of things lately that I’m keeping under wraps until the time is right. So it feels very nice to knit a pattern that isn’t a secret. And what a great pattern it is! The charts are awesome, the instructions are clear, and they are just fun, fun, fun.
It’s that time of year when the weather is perfect for outdoor knitting. The window is small, so I’m taking every opportunity to knit in the sun before the heat gets oppressive. I catch a few rows in between playing catch with Maggie and Jerry, or having tea parties on the picnic blanket.
When I finish the mittens, I’m going to do a blocking tutorial, just for the heck of it. I’m on the thumb of mitten #1 and if all goes as planned (it never does) I will cast on for mitten #2 today!
It is hard to think of you as doing “secret knitting”. I guess that is the advantage of knowing you IRL!
