Phoebe’s Sweater – a giveaway

A few weeks ago, I received an email from Joanna Johnson, author and self-publisher, asking if I would like to swap some books and do a giveaway of her book, Phoebe’s Sweater. Of course I said yes! As soon as the book arrived, Maggie and I snuggled up to read it together.

Maggie and I both loved it! From the amazing and whimsical illustrations by Joanna’s husband Eric, to the sweet story and knitting patterns, I was smitten.  I especially loved when the mailman, a cardinal, delivered a box of yarn for Phoebe’s mother.  Right then, you know this book was written by a knitter!

Maggie liked it enough that she wanted to read it again (immediately) and I’m contracted to knit a Phoebe Mouse (the dress is part of this pattern) and Phoebe Doll Sweater. How cute are they?!?!

The story of Phoebe Mouse (who is expecting a new sibling) is the first part of the book, and the patterns are at the back. There are three patterns total, the two pictured above, and also the Phoebe Sweater for a child (sizes 2, 4 and 6).

Phoebe’s Sweater is a beautiful hardcover book and was self-published by Joanna’s own publishing company, Slate Falls Press. Woohoo for self-publishing! You can buy the book on Amazon or get free domestic shipping and an autographed copy through Etsy. You can also see what Phoebe is up to on her blog, Phoebe on the Road, and enter to win a copy of The Red Collection!

I have one autographed copy of Phoebe’s Sweater to give to one of my readers. If you would like to win a copy of the book, please leave a comment on this post by Saturday, November 20th at 11:59 pm EST. Only one entry per person, please. I’ll announce the winners on Sunday the 21st.

Good luck!

  1. Oh! What a great idea of a book. And if I had a little girl, I’d really have to resist knitting that sweater! What a great way to support indie publishers… I am going to scurry over to her blog and try to get a copy of your book too. ;)

I would love to win the book – it is on my Christmas Wish List.

I gave your patterns a thumbs up to Susan Anderson (she mentioned your book on her blog). I finished the mittens with the cardinal on the fence and receive rave reviews from my knitting club. I am starting the hat this week.

Best wishes for your continued success.
